HERB GARDEN DESIGN

Planning your own herb garden can be fun! Herb lecturer, Edna McCallion will explain the design process and help you develop plans based on your space, wants and needs. Her country herb garden has been featured in the Bakersfield Californian. Information brochures are included with the workshop.

THE ART OF BASIL PESTO

Edna McCallion is an herb columnist, lecturer and the author of “Pesto the Royal Ingredient”. She will share ideas on the preparation, variations, storage and recipes for basil pesto. Emphasis will be on home made pesto using different kinds of basil. Recipes and a pesto tasting are included with this class.

CRAFTY LAVENDER

Create your own simple lavender basket or wand. A variety of lavender and ribbon will be provided, but bring any “special ribbon” you wish to use. This is a delightfully smelly project, with some health benefits. Herb columnist, Edna McCallion will guide the project and answer your lavender questions as you play.


COOKIN’ WITH HERBS

Edna McCallion was a winner in the Viansa Winery recipe competition. She will share her award winning recipe and many other simple and tasty ones. Join her in a discussion of several kitchen herbs and their uses. Parsley, thyme, savory, rosemary, oregano, sage and others will be explored. A recipe booklet is part of this class.


HERBAL TEAS AND BEVERAGES

Edna McCallion is an herb columnist and lecturer. She invites you to discover plants that can be grown in your garden and provide unique flavors and health benefits in some beverages. Her country herb garden was recently featured in the Bakersfield Californian. Preparation ideas and a recipe brochure are included with the class.
